A 19-year-old, Abba Yusuf, has allegedly killed his 60-year-old father, Alhaji Dahiru Yusuf Maileather, in Lokoja, Kogi State. The suspect has been handed over to police, while his mother and siblings have fled.
A shocking incident unfolded in the Sarkin-Noma area of Lokoja, Kogi State, where a 19-year-old man, Abba Yusuf, has reportedly killed his 60-year-old father, Alhaji Dahiru Yusuf Maileather. According to eyewitness accounts, the tragic event occurred over the weekend around 8:30 a.m., when Abba allegedly stabbed his father to death.
The elder brother of the deceased, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammed Bala, confirmed the distressing news, revealing that he was alerted by a sister about the incident while at his own home. “When my sister called, she said our brother had been killed by his son. I rushed to his house only to learn that he had already been taken to a hospital,” Bala recounted, clearly shaken by the unfolding tragedy.
The suspect, Abba Yusuf, has since been handed over to law enforcement authorities. Meanwhile, the suspect's mother and her two other children have reportedly fled their home, seeking refuge in an undisclosed location. Attempts to contact the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Ovye Aya, for further details on the case were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or text messages. This chilling incident has left the local community in disbelief and mourning.
